How to Clean Frosted Glass
What You’ll Need –  Rubber or latex gloves –  Glass cleaner –  Newspaper or paper towels –  Abrasive sponge – Wet & dry emery paper – Window cleaner –  Lint-free cloth

There is a huge difference between normal glass and frosted glass; normal glass is flat, transparent and shiny, while frosted glass is translucent and marked with pits.
Frosted glass is mostly used for bathroom windows and shower doors because when light falls on this type of glass, it scatters in various directions to provide privacy by blurring the image on the other side.

You can clean frosted glass in the same way as normal glass, but the pits can get very dirty, making it necessary to use a slightly different technique to clean them properly.

Wear Gloves

wear the gloves before you start cleaning. It is important as a safety precaution for your hands but also so you don’t leave unsightly finger marks on your newly cleaned glass.

Spray and Wipe the Glass

Spray the frosted glass with a glass cleaner and then rub with newspaper or paper towels in circular movements. Old newspapers are known to clean well and leave glass sparkling. If the specific glass pane is very dirty, you need to use an abrasive sponge as well.

Use an Abrasive Sponge

If your glass is mounted in a wooden frame, be very careful when you are using the abrasive sponge that you do not go over the wooden frame, as you might scratch the paint off the wood.

Go over the glass in circular motions with the abrasive sponge until you are satisfied that most of the dirt and grime is gone.

Remove Metal Marks with Wet-and-Dry Emery Paper

Metal can easily damage frosted glass as well. To remove the metal marks, use a soaked wet-and-dry emery paper that has a roughness close to that of the frosted glass itself. If you use an emery paper that is too smooth, you may scratch it and therefore damage the glass. A good way to make sure that the emery paper is similar in texture as the glass is by directly comparing their feel with your bare hands.

Rub the streak with the emery paper in a circular movement as if you are normally cleaning the frosted glass. Keep rubbing until you see that the streak is gone. Rub the pits around the streak as to remove any other spots and to make sure the surface looks uniform.

Window Cleaner

When you have successfully managed to remove all streaks from your frosted glass with the wet-and-dry emery paper, you can clean it with a regular window cleaner, wiping it off and polishing the glass with a lint-free cloth.

With these tools and techniques, you should easily be able to keep your frosted glass looking pristine for years to come.
